2011: more visitors, more activities, more aliveness !

Springtime at the Nest

Winter and spring 2011 were quite mild, allowing the creation of a 10 metre diametre round platform on the slope behind the house, where there was a commercial forest area before. The idea is to build a 'magic yurt' there, a kind of octagonal roundhouse with a wooden construction, strawbale walls and possibly a roof of grass. Or if someone comes along with a real yurt to put up one day....

Like previous years many visitors from different nationalities came and went and left their imprints in work,

play,

music,

and creativity.

Having fun,

and creating new friendships...

Cantaloups Full Moon Experiences
This year we also started organizing events around the full moon, the "Cantaloups Full Moon Experiences", the first one happening in June on the occasion of the lunar eclipse. We had shared meals, we went up the Cantaloups each time to view the sunset and the moonrise, except in the month of August when the weather turned bad that evening. We had sleeping bag concerts with excellent music performances, and an array of different workshops. It has been such a success that we have planned to definitely pick it up again next year!

" Pilgrims' Nest high in the mountains as the summer fades.
Their legs remember all the miles as they sit warm under layers of woodsmoke.
Watching the weather all day it is possible to stop asking questions.
The mysteries in the churning sky shift back to feelings,
and the sacred places stay lodged in the cracks in the palm.
In the afternoon they grip the shovel,
while around them, the guarled old branches tell the leaves to turn.
The pool of water sits comfortably on the moss,
the family of wild boar escape the dogs through the garden gate."

Summer 2010 : more space in the Nest.

2010 has been marked by the creation of a beautiful 80m² multifunctional space inside the barn. Apart from its dormitory function this space will serve a variety of purposes like meditation, workshops, conferences, meetings and parties, and various expressions of creativity like musical jam sessions, improvised theatre performances, exhibitions, etc.

A great asset to the Pilgrims' Nest !!

Construction work in progress...

plastering and decorating...

...and finished !

And celebrating with a barn warming party!

Furthermore there was the creation of new terraces as extensions of the vegetable garden,

there was the arrival of a tipi, and another sign appeared at the gate,

we've been energizing the source water,

and as always we shared food and drink,

played music and danced.

Kiss from Pelgrim...
